Peaceful Birth
Does how we are born matter? What are the effects of peaceful birth? Could the way we birth change the world? I believe it could!

Does our own birth experience have the potential to shape our lives in a big way?
What if a peaceful birth sets the stage for a peaceful life?!
I believe that how we begin life really matters! It all starts well before delivery as baby’s nervous system entrains with mom’s emotions, hormones, and chemicals during pregnancy.
But today I’m focusing on the actual birth event.
“Babies are imprinted by their birth experience on a deep subconscious level. How we begin life sets the stage for how we interact with the world. Just imagine what this planet could be like, if more babies started their journey on Earth from a place of calm, peace, comfort, and joy.” - Jeni Miller
What if that deep subconscious input starts right away with messages like:
I am loved
My needs are always met
I matter
I am comforted
I am needed
The world is a generous place
The world is a safe place
Cell Biologist, Bruce Lipton says that 90+% of people would test “no” to the statement “I love myself”. That’s startlingly high, and how is that affecting the things we see daily in our world? Could more peaceful births help flip these numbers over time?
In my opinion, as a woman intentionally prepares for a peaceful birth, she’s healing her own heart and mind. Since the mom is like “Source” for the baby, her holistic wellbeing is very important. That emotional, chemical, neurological entrainment begins in the third trimester. All of her preparation can pay off in a beautiful way as her pregnancy culminates in a calm, peaceful birth.
I myself had a reasonably traumatic birth. At 3 weeks overdue, both my mom and I were spent. She had a fever of almost 105 and was too weak to stand. Most of my amniotic fluid was gone, I had ingested meconium and was in severe fetal distress. All these factors led to an emergency cesarean section. I did not get that golden hour on my mom’s chest. I’m not sure how long it was before I got any skin-to-skin contact. There was nothing slow or gentle about it. Thank goodness we both made it! And I’m truly grateful for how that experience has been a catalyst for so much GOOD, growth, and learning in my life.
I’ve done a lot of healing work on my own birth experience, and I believe that ALL experiences can be transformed into something meaningful. I’m so grateful for my birth experience and how it’s shaped my life and my mission in it. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and that the universe is programmed for our SUCCESS!
I say all this to acknowledge that emergencies happen. My life and my mother’s life were preserved!
I’m just here to ask this question. What butterfly effect could be observed if more and more - even the majority - of births were peaceful, gentle ones? What could that little blip of time mean for how we feel about ourselves? For how we treat each other? Perhaps if we addressed the epidemic of self-hatred/self-loathing through the lense of birth, the world could be a dramatically different place! What an investment worth making!
THIS IS WHY I DO WHAT I DO!! Birth work is HEART work!!!
Thank you to my beautiful clients that gave me permission to use their favorite photos from their births (or shortly thereafter). Accompanying each is a short excerpt from why that photo was their favorite. I hope you enjoy!
