My Birth Philosophy

I believe that birth is a completely natural physiological event that happens every day without intervention. I believe your body was divinely made to birth. I believe in you! And your ability to birth your baby naturally, peacefully, and without unnecessary intervention. I am a strong advocate of facilitating a quiet, dimly lit, peaceful environment that will allow your body to relax and open the way it intuitively knows how to. I believe in pre-labor work (a healthy diet, stretches, exercise, massages, muscle release, squats, Spinning Babies techniques, etc.) that prepare the body with optimal birth alignment, strength, and flexibility for labor and birth.

Over and above the physical preparation, I firmly encourage my clients to take a birth education course of their choosing (if they haven’t already) that will provide them with the tools they will most assuredly need when labor begins.

It’s my personally belief that mental, emotional, and spiritual preparation can carry more weight than the physical prep. I believe that the mind needs training (perhaps re-training in some cases) and education to unlearn any unhelpful programming. I believe in supporting my clients in their desires (unmedicated, medicated, induction, VBAC, etc.) and I do all in my power to help them manifest their dream birth!

“I believe that birth is a bridge that others can walk to the edge of with you, but you ultimately cross it alone. I believe that every woman who is ready will be best served by acknowledging that reality and choosing to own the full responsibility for her own pregnancy and birth. It is in doing so that she grows in intuition, courage, and love-qualities that she will need as a mother to her children and as a woman I the world for the rest of her life.”
